Mr Robert Lee is a Consultant Orthopaedic and Spinal Surgeon based at The Wellington Hospital. He is regarded as one of the leading surgeons in the UK for his expertise in minimally invasive spinal fusions and computer-navigated spinal surgery, having integrated this technology into his work since 2009.
With over 15 years of experience, Mr Lee offers high-quality treatment of complex adult degenerative disease, spondylolisthesis, adult scoliosis, pars defects, primary and metastatic tumours, infection and spinal trauma. He is well respected as an expert in adult deformity surgery, revision surgery and sacroiliac joint fusions. He specialises in anterior and posterior minimally invasive fusions and indirect decompressions, with an emphasis on fast rehabilitation and restoration of sagittal balance and lumbar lordosis.
Mr Lee was fellowship trained in Vancouver, Canada, where he developed his expertise in computer-navigated spine surgery (O-arm and stealth navigation). He has performed more than 1,000 cases using this technology. His NHS practice is based at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital NHS Trust in Stanmore.
Mr Lee teaches on numerous spinal surgery courses, regularly instructing consultant surgeons on how to integrate minimally-invasive surgical techniques into their work. He speaks regularly at international and national conferences, and has published extensively. His current research interests are the outcomes after minimally invasive surgery, adult deformity correction and computer-navigated spinal surgery.
